I thought I'd start a thread about some special little things we love about our particular little animal friends :D

Things you can take pictures of.
I'll start:

Dopey's extra toe (it stands up!)

His toes look like claws right there...

Next up, Dilly. He has some very curly gill filaments. I've taken to calling him rasta-Dilly at times :D

It's not caused by the water flow. His gills are naturally like that. They always look so very very fluffly...

Who's next? :D

Dopey looks like he's attending a very posh tea party there and I think you need to stop feeding Dilly so many crusts ;)

Very lovely Lotls :D

Woopers gills on his right hand side are developing in an odd way. He has a trident and the middle one gets thinner :D

On his left side, the very top gill is almost half the size as the one on the other side :) He's always been like that.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
