Hey guys! This is Mowgli. This is my first time raising a baby axolotl, so I was really surprise when I saw how small s/he was as compared to my 7.5 inches axolotl. Mowgli is about 2 inches long. Oh, and s/he is a GFP axolotl. Hope you guys like him/her  !!

Is he/she reading the newspaper in the 1st picture? Looks like he's gonna be a vikings fan.

Wow, he's a cute little one!

I had no idea that you could actually buy GFP axolotls as pets. I thought they didn't exist outside of research labs!

he is teeny! i thought spike was little.
whats a GFP?

i was about to ask the same question what is a gfp? mowglis very cute.mine are 1.5 inchs

GFP stand for Green Flourescent Protein. It means when put under UV light, he will literally "glow" green.

Cute axie! I especially like the 3rd picture where he's floating in his big tank. Nice pictures!

@ Shizeric: Hahaha, Vikings!! I didn't even see that!
@ Samyueruchan: Thank you! I bought Mowgli from the market here.
@K9skennel: Sorry it took so long to reply! GFP is exactly what Shizeric described it as. It stands for Green Flourescent Protein and it makes them glow green under UV light. ^_^
@michaelaf: Thank you! 1.5 is so small :O ! I wish you luck raising him! :D
@hotchikisu: Thank you so much! Yeah, it was a pain trying to take decent pictures of him since he swims all over the place!

OMG! He is so cute! I am raising about 80 baby golden axies right now, and I can't wait until they look like that!

yea my babies are small. my biggest is at 2 inchs now. the other two are about 1.5. i love watching mine eat and swim. ive tried to get pictures but they are super fast and small.

@ shoegal: OMG! 80 baby axies?! You've got quite a handful! I don't think I can ever handle 80! Good luck! :D
@michaelaf: Yeah, it's kind of hard to feed them at this age, well, in my experience. And they do swim a lot, I can't even find him sometimes.
@Blaze: Thank you! I did wait quite a long time for a GFP to come along.

omg how cute is she/he! I love baby axies!

My two fave axies died recently :-( and they were my smallest. sooo cute when they are little.

@ pinkangel729: I'm so sorry that your axies died :( . But they are pretty cute when they are babies and they're pretty fast too! That's why feeding them is a pain for me. Thank you for the sweet comment!

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
