the whole collection of first timers

641 I counted, that I collected in the tub.....and one or two (or more) left in the tank. Had my first 2 hatch today and the eggs were only laid on the 14th of December...the babies grew big quickly. :)

THATS A LOT OF EGGS!!! Keep me updated on the growth please! If you don't mind. :D

I kept the eggs for 5 days, then selected 16 of the biggest and strongest looking embryos.....sadly, as an inexperienced axie owner I didn't want to have hundreds of youngsters on my hands so I euthanized the rest - felt awful doing it but I know it was for the best.

Within 12 days I have had 4 hatchlings, 2 arriving on Boxing Day and the other two today. I have a set of twins too, which I'm really excited about....if you look at the album I keep adding pics. :)

Yes, it would be hard euthanizing, but your right, its for the best. I would love it if you updated the album so that I can see the growth! Thanks so much! -Seth

Well, my twins hatched and then died shortly afterwards :(....they were alot smaller than the others so not so well developed I would think....Felt pretty sad about that.

I now have 16 babies in total as I found a couple of little ones in the tank still with mum so rescued them. They appear to be eating the Daphnia I'm putting in and 4 of them have got quite big so I may have to separate them from the smaller babies.

It's totally fascinating. :)

I am sorry about the twins. Its great that they are eating the daphnia! And I agree, it is totally fascinating, I love to see the growth. One of my favorite things to do is watch them eat, it soooo cool!

Have got the babies onto frozen blood worm, but I grate it into tiny pieces before putting it into the tub....they seem to be thriving so all crossed. :)

I haven't.....I wasn't successful with the Daphnia and was desperate for the babies not to die so grated the bloodworm and dropped it in, am still doing daily water changes and the babies are still going strong.....although one of the bigger ones I think must be pigging a little coz he has "floaty" sessions in the bowl but rights himself within about an hour of feeding. Will keep an eye on him. :)
