I put a thin object (razor blade) behind the the glass plate to leave a thin space. I did not want the glass plate flush against the back of the tank.
I made a cardboard template and marked with a Sharpie the location of the future island. The purpose of the cardboard is to get exactly the same marki
Turning the tank on end, I stuck a glass rod in place to support the island. After it cured, I turned the tank on its other end and did the other side

I laid out the rocks that I planned to use.
I used aquarium silicone to stick on the large pebbles and also some smaller ones along the front edge of the glass plate.
Turning the tank on its back, I siliconed small pebbles across the front of the glass plate.
