Just aquarium safe silicone- used plumbing pipes as supporting columns for the perspex. Then glued on gravel to hide them and glued them to the shelf. I drilled holes in the perspex (which doesn't work well as it cracks) for drainage. Then I put a layer of gravel on top of the shelf and then put on coco husk and newt safe fir bark.
I wanted to drill holes for the cables etc so could put the filter etc under the shelf, but had to change plans due to the cracking issues.
If I could re-do it I would probably make the land area smaller (but at the time I didn't know I was going to get a free tank to kept the efts in so it was designed for two purposes) as it's difficult to reach under the shelf- I've ended up having to put an air pipe that goes under there to keep the water flow going.
