Our 8 month old Taricha granulosas, captive born and getting bigger! They are very "social" and like to pile up together.

Man, I really miss my Taricha :( Were these captive bred? If so, congrats!!!

Yes, these Taricha granulosa were all captive bred. Most of these seen in the picture have since made it to adulthood...I gave many of them away to good homes. I still own two, another family member has two. I have several new younger generations in the pipeline. In about a year, I may have even more to give away!

Where are you located? I'd be very interested in learning your breeding and baby rearing process as I've acquired a pair of these. Also would be interested in buying some from you if you ship? I'm in Utah.

I am in Oregon (Taricha granulosa are native here). I am quite sure I will have some more Taricha to give away in about a year. My current crop are starting to morph ( loose gills) and I have about 50 to 60 (a lot more this time) and they are all doing amazingly well (almost no deaths) so I will definitely be looking for homes for them. As for tips on raising them in captivity, happy to help. Just let me know what you want to know.

    Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

    He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.     Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

    Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!
