Taxonomic Note: The status of this taxon is problematic. Petranka, 1998, continued the recognition of this lineage as a subspecies of Eurycea bislineata on the basis of an assertion of insufficient verification of its status. Sever, 1989, discussed the problem and concluded that aquatica is a junior synonym of cirrigera, but later Sever, 1999, argued for its recognition.
