Hi!
I recently purchased 2 little axolotls and during my quest of knowledge this forum always been a safe source of informations!
So I finally registered and I will definitely ask a lot.
I live in Tokyo, it was not so hard to find a breeder for axies but on the contrary, caring informations are hard to find.
Here the water is very soft, so tape water has very low PH, GH and KH.
Furthermore, the temperatures get pretty high in summer, so I'm thinking about buying a fridge for them.
So my babies are pretty small, I got them the 31st of January. They both are around 1.6inch (4cm) and are named Upa and Lupa. (since I don't know there respective gender, I chose neutral names and in Japanese axolotl is uupaluupa...)
Upa is a golden albino axoltol and Lupa is a leucistic axolotl.
Since they are so small I got a bit misleaded in the informations for caring after them and that is still a problem.
I can already see some differences in the behavior between them. Upa eats 3times more than Lupa and is very active. While Lupa is very shy and calm.
When I got Lupa, he started to have some fuzzy slime arounf his front fingers so I decided to put him in a separate tank with daily change of water and 10 to 15minutes of tea bath.
I will talk in another topic about this specific matter because it's still an ongoing issue.
Thank you for accepting me in this forum!
