Here is my axolotl family hans , axel and the 3rd has no name at the moment poor thing . Any suggestions are welcome was thinking shaggy as in scooby doo coz he always runs and hides lol .
Hans was named so because everytime i try to feed him hed rather nibble my hand and likes to curl up in wifes hand if she tries lol
Axel is usually found wrapped around the filter which worried me at 1st so i moved him but after a few times i gave up coz he just swims back .
4am this morning was the 1st time i seen them all out together and they looked so cute .

Re: My axolotl family and there home

I think you need to change your substrate. Gravel that size is often ingested by axolotls when they are snuffling around for food. This causes impaction and is often very deadly!!! Please change your substrate so your cute axies don't get impaction.

Re: My axolotl family and there home

I like the way the axolotl gang look like they are longingly looking at the pellets outside their tank.:D

Re: My axolotl family and there home

Yeah, I like how they are piled close to each other too!

Re: My axolotl family and there home

Your gravel looks like the candy "nerds". Not sure if they have this outside the US, I assume they do.

Re: My axolotl family and there home

It's a shame the gravel is bad for them, cause it looks so adorable with their colour. I'm proud of my colourful family but seeing yours makes me want lots of the same colour for the first time ever.
They all look so sweet :)

Re: My axolotl family and there home

yeah we had nerds a few years back but they stopped making them i was quite addicted lol
i never noticed the pellets so thats why they were gathered there together i no what to do now when i want more pics lol

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
