The weather was warm and rainy just perfect for salamandra trip. We found eight within an hour. South-west carpatian region.

Alex

Average size 18-20 cm. The female on the last picture was quite big about 24cm.

Beautiful salamanders. The nominate subspecies seems to be quite robust and big...

Thanks for sharing Juraj

hmmmmm

yo carpy, why cant we have salamanders?
dont worry, im not gonna do it, but could they survive here? i know axolotls can, european tree frogs did survive in the 80's here for a bit, alpine newts have survived here, why not alpine salamanders? or any other amphibians really..

some species of salamanders are able to survive in britain, though of course it can causa havoc to native species if they are introduced. i am currently working on an outdoor enclosure for my salamandra salamandra fastuosa, and they will be kept there all year round.

in theory, some species should be fine and survive in england, and i presome the only reason they have not become establsihed is because of that irrelevant stretch of water that seperatuse us from the mainland :p

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
