It looks very nice, however it doesn't seem quite right for a tiger salamander. They really like borrowing and I cant see very much dirt for one to hang out in.

It is illegal in WI to sell tiger salamanders (or any native WI reptile/amphibian) however you could find a bait shop with larval tiger salamanders, those are sold legally as bait, but they don't know that you are going to care for it instead of catch dinner with it.

awe wow that looks really nice!!!!

So the function of the breeder was a water collection sort of area for the filter?? How much time did you put into planning the tank or did you just throw it all together?

HI Dane: thank's for the advise, I didn't know tiger salamanders were ilegal here, I didn't even know they were native from here , anyways I haven't desided wich way to go if dart frogs or tiger salamanders, if you see the pic closer there is plenty of dirt and trying to grow moss there to make it look more natural.

Ciddian: Yes I use the beeder container to put the filter in there, at teh beggining I was going to use a pvc pipe, but it didn't seem wright and the water level was going to be way to higher than what I expected and offcorse after I read the filter instructions I was able to swich the filter position (dueto 100 filter), and after looking in my old fish stuff I found the breeder container and the filter fit well, after some modifycations hehehe :D.
Actually I was planing to build this terranium since last year but I didn't have the time to draw a desing and after selling my fish tank and my paludarium, I got plenty of time to do this, I did mostly all the work in at night when my kids were asleep and same thing last weekend, I'll say it took my almos a week to build the terranium because I had to wait for the G/E silicone to cure in 24 hours, then another 24 hours for the Great Stuff to expand and cure, then another 24 hours for the aquarium silicone to dry and cure after I cover the G/S with coconut fiber, also to setup the filter took me some time , hehehe.

Hi Jausi
If you think you may go with tiger sals, you may want to review this care sheet from Caudata Culture:

http://www.caudata.org/cc/species/Ambystoma/A_tigrinum.shtml

I would agree with Dane_zu regarding the suitability of the substrate. I would eliminate the small gravel and use less rocks - tigers need to burrow. Using small gravel or any rocks that can fit into a tiger's mouth represents risk to the animal. Tigers lunge at prey and can inadvertently swallow gravel while feeding. This can lead to obstruction and potentially death.

You've got a beautiful tank set up - with a little tweaking you would have great housing for a tiger(s). You may want to check the lighting and temp requirements for you plants. If you go with tigers they need temps under 73F and are nocturnal by nature.

I'd go with dart frogs just because of how the tank's set up, as well as the legality and availibility problem.

:D

Hi guys!!!!
thanks for all their comments, I'll have to do more reading and figure out wich way to go, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the advise, I'll tried to keep posting more updates for every body to see

Mike: I just saw your reply and that's another thing, I'll try to look around for a bait store, but with the winter coming it's going to be hard

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
