I finally got around to taking some more recent photos of my young T.verrucosus, which are approaching (still a few months out) a year of age. I apologize that there are only a few; I had a really hard time getting them to sit still, as they all thought that it was dinner time (and they weren't fans of being plucked out of their tank). Both pictures are of the same newt.

Nice newt Nathan, he looks very healthy! I assume from the picture that you are keeping them terrestrial right now. Thanks for sharing and I hope to see more! :D

Thanks for the compliment, Mitch; I am keeping them terrestrially at the moment. In the photo, the newt is in a container for the sole purpose of having it's photo taken. The actual tank is a lot nicer. (at least, I think so!)

Quickly, put on a fake moustache and get yourself a smoking pipe, then pretend to be european and say "Sorry..me no speak english" with as fake a french accent as you can manage. We can get away with as many apostrophes as we want, muaaaaaahahahahaahah.

By the way, nice looking fella you´ve got there. Good luck with them!

I'm sorry I'm going to disagree here.

There is no apostrophe in 'having its photo taken'

If it was 'It's having its photo taken' there would be an apostrophe for the first 'its'.

Now I'm confused! It's is apostrophe'd when it is short for IT IS, but is it also apostophe'd for it's when it denotes ownership?

Sorry, I'll shut up now.
 
Dawn´s version was the corrected one. In the original post by Nathan, you can see the apostrophe. It´s a mistake i make regularly xD Damn phonetic languages :p
 
Sorry I got confused, I thought Dawn was correcting it from no apostrophe to with an apostrophe!

They look great, Dawn! It's interesting that you also have one that is significantly larger than the rest; it's the same story with my group. The one I posted a photo of is noticeably larger than the others.

I remember reading about your little pop-eye, and it's nice to hear he's made a full recovery. I think he and my little runty one would really hit it off.;)
 
Actually, those are the smallest three. I kept 5 myself. Two got larger and I thought the smaller ones weren't growing because maybe they were 'food-bullied.' So I separated the smallest three (which were closer in size at the time). The two huge ones on the left are the two that were larger early on, and are not in the above pictures.
It's interesting that when I separated the three smallest, one quickly grew noticably larger than the others. I've been thinking about putting him with the two larger ones, but I just haven't yet.

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
