My name's Kevin and I'm from Chicago. I'm currently vacationing in China *yay* and I've been an aquarium hobbyist for a few years, my interests ranging from keeping fish to shrimp to even aquascaping tanks in my spare time. During one of my trips to the local pet market here in China, I saw axolotls for the first time and became fascinated with these "sea dragons" as the seller called them. I immedietely jumped onto the web and read a bit generally about axolotls, finding this site to be by far the most informative in terms of articles and available resources.
I'm hoping to get started once I get back to the states, taking this time to read up on these fascinating creatures and attempting to intake as much info as possible. I'm currently planning to set up a long six to seven gallon tank when I get home for a single axolotl. I'm debating whether or not to use sand-like substrate (flourite/onyx) for plants since I heard that axolotls could intake smaller substrate. I'm definately planning on adding a variety of aquatic plants and am looking forward towards learning as much as I can.
Suggestions and the like would be more than welcome. Thanks!
