Hi anyone

I have a fire bellied newt. He was bought as a 16th birthday present for me which makes him 14 now. Love the little fell but just wondering how long they live for?

Thanks

Amphibians can live a very long time. I don't have the exact figures, but 20+ years isn't uncommon, and the record is probably somewhere around 35 years for Cynops.

Unfortunately, you don't hear of this very often, so it's always nice to hear from someone out there who's done a good job taking care of their animals for that long.

i had an a male cynops orientalis for at least 22 years .. he died this year , and was a well grown juvinile when i got him ! so i'd guess at 25 years! so good luck with the next ten !!!!

I have a male Chinese Firebelly who is 11 and still going strong!
