It’s calendar competition time again! We’re after your best caudate photographs to make a wonderful calendar for 2009. The calendars are sold worldwide through the caudata.org store and are of the highest quality.

The competition is open to all registered users and it couldn’t be easier to enter. Simply send your photos to the following email address: photocomp@caudata.org

The rules:


  • The photo must be of caudata either in captivity or the wild – no frogs, reptiles, dogs or cats this year please…
  • No more than 5 photos per user.
  • The photo must belong to you i.e. you took it or own the copyright. If chosen for the calendar you will retain the copyright.
  • The photo is in a digital format – preferably JPEG
  • The photo must be a minimum resolution of 2000 x 1500 pixels – the more pixels the better.

The final rule is very important! If you don’t have the original photo (as it came out of the camera or at least very high quality) your submission may not count. Valid entries will appear in this thread for all to enjoy and discuss.

 The competition will close at the end of September.

I would just like to add that if you are new to this and want to know what the previous winning photos were for the competitions held in 2006 and 2007, here are the galleries containing the photos:

I must congratulate all of the entrants so far for the very high standard of their photos. I notice Kaysie and Ricardo are using recent Nikon DSLRs for their photos - kudos from this Nikon fan. I am afraid to take a guess as to whether we've seen any possible winners yet. It makes me very excited to see what the "heavyweights" will come up with, because I think Henk, Travis Dimler and the other previous winners are being caught by the peloton! (And no, I haven't been watching Le Tour, yet!)

The standard of entries this year has so far been phenomenal. David has just raised the bar another notch... Keep ‘em coming!

If your submission doesn’t appear straight away – don’t worry, it will. I just haven’t had time to upload it.

If your entry is not suitable I will always reply stating what's wrong.
 
I think I see a winner already.
 
John, what would be the logistics of publishing a 'book' of photos? There are so many fabulous photographers here!

That's why we have the galleries and due to the complications involved in a book (financing it for example) versus copyright and royalties, it is not a practical idea for the site right now.

I wish i had a better camera....some of those pictures are just brilliant.

That is true but Chris' photo, and no offense to Chris, is rather blurry and I doubt it will get far in the judging.
